Meine Meinung:

Ich hatte bisher keine besondere Meinung zu Elton John. Ja, er hat viele tolle Songs komponiert und gesungen. Aber das haben andere auch getan. Neulich wurde seine Biografie in einer Büchersendung besprochen und ich dachte: "Mal schauen, ob ich die in der Onleihe lesen kann." So fand ich dort nicht nur das Buch, sondern sogar das ungekürzte Hörbuch im Original. Elton John liest sogar persönlich das Vorwort und das Nachwort. Taron Egerton liest den Rest, seine Art zu sprechen ist der von Elton John recht ähnlich, man kann ihm wirklich gut zuhören und er schlüpft auch gelegentlich in andere Rollen und Akzente, wenn er z.B. von John Lennon erzählt. Elton John hat einen beeindruckenden Lebenslauf, er hat so viel erlebt und durchlitten, er kennt bzw. kannte so viele berühmte Menschen (Michael Jackson, Lady Di, Pinzessin Margaret, die Queen, die Band Queen, George Michael, Richard Gere, Sylvester Stallone, Gianni und Donnatella Versace, Madonna, Tina Turner, die Beatles, Elvis Presley, David Bowie, Lady Gaga uvm.) und über jeden hat er etwas zu erzählen. Er ist so ehrlich, dass es manchmal beim Zuhören fast wehtut. Manches ist verstörend (an dieser Stelle möchte ich eine definitive Triggerwarnung in alle Richtungen aussprechen), vieles berührend und immer wieder gab es extrem absurde Ideen, die er sich zwar vorher nicht richtig überlegt hat (Wie soll man in einem Donald-Duck-Kostüm Klavier spielen? Wie soll man vernünftig singen, wenn die beleuchtete Brille samt Akku die Nase zudrückt?), die er aber gnadenlos durchgezogen und sich selbst dabei ausgelacht hat.

Ich bin wirklich beeindruckt von dieser Biografie, von diesem Menschen, von diesem Künstler.

Die knapp 12 Stunden sind wie im Flug vergangen und am liebsten würde ich sofort noch einmal von vorn beginnen. Wow!
