Meine Meinung:
Puh, dieses Buch zu lesen ist sehr anstrengend, aber es lohnt sich wirklich. Es ist nicht gefällig. Es ist nicht schön. Es ist nicht lustig. Der Zeichenstil ist etwas seltsam, Kate Beaton hat Schwächen (Beine, Arme, Hände) und große Stärken (Gesichter, Maschinen, Landschaften, Atmosphäre, Momente ohne Worte). Aber vor allem geht es um den Inhalt. Und der ist heftig. Es geht um harte Arbeitsbedingungen und was diese mit Menschen machen. Es geht um Rassismus, Sexismus (inklusive Gewalt!), Umweltzerstörung. Dieses Buch sollte Schullektüre sein!
Tipp:
Die ersten 42 Seiten gibt es als kostenlose Leseprobe. Das Buch ist auch ins Deutsche übersetzt worden. Ich weiß aber nicht, wie gut die Übersetzung ist.
