Starting in World War II and moving through to the Cold War, the Civil Rights Movement and the Space Race, Hidden Figures follows the interwoven accounts of Dorothy Vaughan, Mary Jackson, Katherine Johnson and Christine Darden, four African American women who participated in some of NASA’s greatest successes. It chronicles their careers over nearly three decades they faced challenges, forged alliances and used their intellect to change their own lives, and their country’s future.

Meine Meinung:

Vor ein paar Jahren habe ich die Verfilmung von "Hidden Figures" gesehen. Es ist ein absolut großartiger Film, den ich Euch an dieser Stelle wärmstens empfehlen möchte. Das Thema hat mich nicht losgelassen, deshalb habe ich jetzt das Hörbuch gehört. Während der Film ein klassischer Spielfilm ist und keine Dokumentation, ist das Buch eher ein Sachbuch mit großem biografischen Anteil. Robin Miles liest es sehr gut. Ich bin sehr beeindruckt von den Leistungen der Schwarzen Mathematikerinnen bei der Nasa, von Margot Lee Shetterly, die sehr sorgfältig recherchiert hat und es schafft, uns beim Lesen diese Heldinnen nahe zu bringen. Und auch der Film, der nach dieser Buchvorlage entstanden ist, ist eine große Leistung.

Normalerweise lese ich lieber erst ein Buch und sehe dann den Film, aber hier bin ich froh, dass ich es umgekehrt gemacht habe. So wusste ich durch den Film bereits, worum es geht und habe durch das Hörbuch spannende Hintergrundinformationen erhalten.
